For AAPi’s 35th anniversary and cruise, the Board of Directors has decided to treat those
members attending the Annual Meeting/Installation of Officers with a “Sail Away Bag”

NALA Certification

NALA is comprised of individual, student and affiliate members, and strives for the professional development and continuing education of paralegals throughout the United States.

Additional Information

NALA offers a national examination designed to measure a high level of competency of the paralegal in that one may attain the status of Certified Paralegal (CP) or Advanced Certified Paralegal (ACP). NALA offers seminars on the national level, a bi-monthly publication, and an opportunity to join a "specialty section" which concentrates in a particular area of the law. As NALA interacts and exchanges its ideas with others in this field on the national scene, it projects an image of dedication, professionalism and concern for Ethics, Education and Excellence.

CP/ACP Information

Established in 1976, the Certified Paralegal/Certified Legal Assistant (CP/CLA) program establishes and serves as a national professional standard for legal assistants/paralegals.

Additional Information

NALA’s credentialing program is responsive to the needs of legal assistants and responsive to the fact that this form of self-regulation is necessary to strengthen and expand development of this career field. As of July 2013, there are over 17,589 Certified Paralegals (232 in Alabama ) and over 3000 Advanced Certified Paralegals (47 in Alabama) in the United States.

You have the option of selecting between PSI and Non-PSI centers.

PSI Testing Centers

There are currently 6 PSI testing centers in Alabama. After examinees are admitted to the Certified Paralegal program, they will work directly with PSI to confirm testing appointments. The web site, www.psiexams.com has a list of testing centers. Be sure to choose National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) as the Sponsor name from the drop down menu of certification programs for an accurate list.
